I think I might be in over my head on this one.

I recieved a letter from UWG today reminding me of my appointment with them to interview with their Psychology department. They say that the interview will cover Humanistic and Transpersonal Psychology and the theorists therein. I don't know anything about that.

I am so humped.

This is going to be great!

Beware, for the time of Academic Prophecy has arrived!

Behold, it comes without warning, like a thief in the night to steal away your focus and make you procrastinate on the internet! The Academic Prophet has arrived!

And (because I can), I shall be updating it with new prophecies as the school years progress. I really enjoyed writing these, so I'm going to continue.

And now for something completely different.

I'm not saying girls should be sexually loose, I'm just saying that they should know more about themselves sexually than "This is where the penis goes."

The Future? What's that?

Ok, so now I'm at UWG. That aforementioned quest (look at yesterday's post) is accomplished. I now eagerly await a phone call that will arrange for me a day to go meet with some of the professors for an interview. At that interview I shall use my powers of reason and/or BS to gain acceptance into the Master's Degree program in Psychology for the fall semester.

As for work, Toys R Us is going south on me fast. I'm sure they don't mean to, but I get almost no hours, and the hours I get constantly clash with the rest of my life (like when I took the GRE yesterday).

In the meantime I have under consideration two possible employment options: supervise at a warehouse in Peachtree City or go into pest control. That's right, I'd be an exterminator during most of my Graduate Career. I think it'll be fun.

I have also decided that in the near future (3-4 months), I want my own place. I don't care if it's a hovel carved out of the side of a mountain, I want my own place. I love my parents and I love my baby brother, but I need to have my own place. It's just requisite.

What else cool happened to me over the past few days?

I saw Grace for Valentine's Day. We went to dinner, saw some of her friends, and then went to see Night at the Museum. It was a fun movie indeed. I really enjoyed it.

Mr. and Mrs. Pham have done wonders to their house. I rented it from them over the summer and stayed there for the time I was going to be in town for the GRE. It still has a small ways to go on it, but it is shaping up to be an incredible house.

Last night I took GA 41 most of the way home. You can imagine my astonishment when the Interstate did not appear--at all--despite following the directions Mrs. Pham gave me very closely. But at least I've laid eyes on Gordon College, the one institution of higher learning I swore never to attend.

Now that I've once again had contact with my graduate school application process, I'm starting to actively look forward to continuing my education. For the longest time I would just bide my time and study. It almost felt like it was very far off.

Oh, note for the future. I'm going to begin pulling all my Academic Prophecies out of my Xanga and transferring them to a blogger account. I shall let you know more as events develop.

The GRE.

It is taken. I made a 500 on the Verbal and a 690 on the Quantitative.

Now I have to get to UWG by tomorrow at 5pm so I can get my scores in before the deadline.

Oh what fun we shall have questing together.

Creation.

And God said, "Let there be,"

I find it interesting that when I act creatively I cannot coerce my actions into bearing fruit. When I write I cannot force words onto the page. When I make up fictional characters I cannot pull them out of my imagination like I was pulling up a plant. When I draw or when I sculpt, I cannot simply put lines on a page and make it look interesting. It has to just happen.

and there was.

When I create characters for games or for books, I find myself meeting them like I would meet people on the street. I see them in my mind, I observe their actions, and from there I can find the character's personality, visage, and other things.

God shaped the man from the dirt and breathed into his nostrils, and the man lived.

Creation is not entirely a matter of allowing created things to appear in my mind. I also put a good deal of conscious thought into the matter. I have met the character, but I choose its goals, I figure out how it would act in a given situation based on what I learned when I met it. I take the nebulous creature and give it form and shape. I give it a life to live.

Like all created things, the characters I create can only live one life. That's what makes them so real. If a character could just be placed in one reality or the next, then what would be the point of it living? Sure, it might do some cool things, but what would the character be about? Would it have goals? Would it have purpose?

Somehow, I doubt it.

And God looked at all He had created, and it was good. Indeed, it was very good.
